Destination: Whistler -
Site of the 2010 Games
Whistler is all about fun. Consistently described as the best ski resort in North America by industry experts it welcomes many thousands of skiers every season. First opening it's lift operations in the late 1960's dreams of hosting the Olympic Winter Games were harboured right from the very beginning but were not actually realized until 2010. What started out as a ski resort has blossomed into a thriving small town with a permanent population of around 10,000.
Actually two ski mountains, Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains, offer winter fun for any taste, from world class downhill, to tube sliding for the kids.
Summer is also fun in Whistler. The lifts are converted to carry mountain bikes up for a thrilling gravity propelled trip down the mountain, along with hiking, white water rafting rock climbing, wild life watching, and a host of other attractions make it an adventurers dream.
Getting there is half the fun, Either traveling the Sea to Sky Highway or arriving aboard the Whistler Mountaineer the scenery is breath taking.
